Idle-Free Zone
The students in Second Grade had persuaded our facilities department to hang Idle-Free Zone signs after learning about the amount of fuel that is wasted when cars and buses are idling. Willards Elementary has approximately 150 students who are car riders, along with nine buses that serve our school. We continue to have signs placed throughout the car rider and bus loops to remind everyone of the Idle-Free Zone. Staff and students verbally encouraged bus drivers and car drivers to turn off their engines while waiting for the students to be dismissed.

Idle-Free Zone signs have been placed as a reminder to parents and bus drivers to turn off their vehicles when parked.
Car Pooling
Throughout the 2020-2021 school year, a number of families and community members have begun to car pool to and from school/work. In one particular instance, a local family car pool daily. That car-pool consists of cousins and neighbors as a way to cut down on fossil fuel emissions..
A number of our students and staff members car pool to school each day.
