Waste Free Lunches
On March 1, 2, 4 and 5, 2021 the school community worked toward reducing waste during lunch periods. Parents were informed of this through our monthly newsletter and school messenger phone calls. Each grade level worked to pack meals that did not have trash to throw away. Some of these items included: cloth napkins, silverware, and reusable containers. Students who purchased lunch had choices that were not in a throw-away container. Students all used reusable trays. This will be an ongoing occurrence so that these students will make life long green choices, potentially changing their habits, and the habits of their families in our community. This practice will occur monthly and during the fourth marking term will become bi-monthly.

Throughout the 2020-2021 school year, students at Willards participated in a "Waste Free" lunch. These practices have continued to occur even on days that are not designated as "Waste Free".

Recycling and Reusing
In the winter of 2021, after completing a unit on "How can we help the environment?", pre-kindergarten students were motivated to find ways in their school and communities to reduce, reuse, and recycle.
After learning about ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle in school, students implemented ways to do this at home.
